It's not all that bad

It's 7:00 PM on a Saturday night in Highlands Ranch Colorado. Most kiddos are doing something really cool, like having their parents drop them off at the mall so they can go shopping or maybe they are showing each other the cool new trick they learned on the trampoline! Whatever they are doing, they are involving their parents as little as possible. Not me.

Because of my stubornness to avoid the singles ward like the plague and me giving no thought to taking classes at ACC (aka Anybody Can Come), the only party animals around for me to get down with would be my parents.

So at 7:00 PM this Saturday, I chose to attend High School Musical 3 with my parents. I was smart, I knew if we went to AMC 24 or Meadows 12 we would see some cool person with their friends. Actually, it would be the other way around. I would see some loser with their dumb friends who THINKS they are too cool for their parents. When in reality, their parents are where it's at.

When we walked into the theatre on Monaco Parkway, yes we went that far, it was not full to my surprise. My prayers had been answered, angels were attending me that day. In the back of course were the Zach Efron freaks. Had I been with friends, I would have been just like them; dropping popcorn everywhere attempting to put it in my mouth and letting the water slop down my chin as i drank from the bottle at the sight of sweaty, chiseled chin bliss. That's what you see when the movie starts. There he is ladies. Mr. eye pleaser. Troy Bolton bigger and sweatier then ever. But, I was with my parents, so I had to
play "I'm cool enough to be with my parents so I can't drool or squeal".

There is infinite wisdom in parents. Other teenagers can't show you how to do an amortization table or help you get rust off a really cool hat stand. Those are things only parents can do. So here is my toast to nights with parents! Learn to play solitaire, ask your Dad how to get shinier shoes! Ever wonder how textured walls can be painted so evenly at the corners? That's a mom thing, she can tell you how to do it.
