Ha! All these years you've wondered how to pronounce my name. You've thought...mmm...where did her parents come up with that? And you probably thought, oh Laura Ginny Brown, it slides off the tongue like silk on a baby's bottom. No, like in HSM3 when Zach and Vanessa are waltzing on the roof, and their feet glide so smooth. I don't want to be compared to a baby's bottom.

Anyway, whatever you've decided about my name, you're wrong. My name actually means ": a monastery of an Eastern church" according to merriamwebster.com, respectively (I've always wondered why papers use this, and here seemed like a good spot, so I used it, trying to sound smart)

Funny story. When I was young, I cried a lot for various dumb reasons. So to justify it, I told people that Laura is the english translation of llora, which means to cry in spanish. Yeah I know it makes no sense because I realize now that the english translation of llora is to cry. I was silly back then.

Now I realize my name means

"protector of all, opposer of destruction, rock solid abs, chiseled physique"

ok maybe i'm getting a little carried away.

Here's some truth to the meaning of my name.

"The girl's name Laura \la(u)-ra\ is pronounced LAW-rah, LOR-ah. It is of Latin origin, and its meaning is "the bay, or laurel plant". In classical times, a crown was made from the leaves of the bay laurel for heroes or victors as a symbol of honor and victory. The poet Petrarch addressed his sonnets to a Laura. Also made famous as the name of the heroine of the 1940s film "Laura". Laura was also a character on "Little House on the Prarie" from Little House Books. See also Liora. Actresses Laura Dern, Laura Linney; singer Laura Brannigan; First Lady Laura Bush."

Laura, now that you are older, wiser and more educated we should have a rematch at Bulderdash. You weren't very good at that game when you were younger but I think you would be much better now. I remember we would play that game as a family and it was always really obvious which one was yours but sometimes we would just guess yours even though we knew it was wrong because we love you soooo much!

We will play in Martha's Vineyard, Douglas and I own the game so bring it on :) I think you will be a tough competitor now.

Love,

Melissa
