Let Freedom Ring!

Oh boy, what an entertaining day yesterday was!  It all began with the parade in Highlands Ranch.  We got to our spot plenty early, and had time to put tattoos on!  Benny wanted one on each limb, and we did just that.  There were bikers in the parade, and when they came by I told Benny he should go show them his tattoos.  It is probably a good thing he didn't, they looked mean.  The parade was also interesting to watch Brayden.  I don't know that he fully understood how to get all the candy; Benny would wave and say hi and put out his hand and end up with a fist full of candy.  Brayden would just stand and watch, and then begin to cry a little when his big older brother had all the candy.  Eventually though he warmed up to the idea, and he got plenty.  The fireworks were...interesting.  The grand finale was more like a grand opening.  It just wasn't long enough for me.  Sorry Highlands Ranch, but they were a little lame.  Oh well, we still had fun.

But after all was said and done, my favorite part of the day was at the parade.  An old man in the parade came along chanting "we are not the red states, we are not the blue states; we are the united states!"  All of us had tears in our eyes as the man passed along, continuing to chant various sayings of unity and togetherness!  All sarcasm put aside, he is very correct in what he said.  We stand together as one nation in the triumph over adversity and bad-ness.  Here is where my creative writing skills come to a screeching halt.  Happy Fourth of July everyone!
