No I'm not going...but thank you for asking

I had a really bad experience the other day when I went to Celestial Bride. Ugh, such a mistake, expecially because they just got all of their 2008 prom dresses in, and they must sell all of them! So, one of my friends found a dress that is BEAUTIFUL on her, and she wanted to show it to us. She really does look gorgeous in it, so Celeste and I went to the store with her so she could try it on and show us. While she was trying it on, the lady who works there said, oh girls, you need to try on a prom dress too. I was like, "hey, lady, I don't want to try no dress on, I'm not really into that, can we just stop the conversation here?" Of course I didn't really say that but it was close to that. She didn't care what I said so of course she went and found a dress for me to try on. The dress was not even prom worthy, it looked like a church dress. I looked at her as she held it against my body, and told her, no i'm not trying that on. Finally, our friend had the dress on, and we went in the dressing room to go look at it. It looked beautiful on her, and the other ladies who work there all came to look. Another lady asked Celeste and I if we were going to prom, and I said no. BIG mistake, 80 people gasped like I had just made a threat against the pope or something. Right and Left all these 50 year old moms living vicariously through their daughters told me "oh, you are going to regret that so much some one day, oh you have to go...blah...blah...blah..." I just stood there thinking, they obviously don't know how eventful my life is, I have plenty of good memories from High School, plenty. And besides, I went to Homecoming 2 years ago, nothing special, so what will make prom any better. To those of you who went to prom and loved it, good for you, a lot of people do have fun, don't get me wrong. It's just not the thing for me. Now if I had a date, I would go. But I'm not spending literally $500 on a dress, a ticket, dinner, limo, hair, nails, etc. And besides, I don't think the Mountain Vista student body wants to see me "get jiggy with it".

Laura you are SOO funny! It was great seeing you. Anyways, I think you are smart. Prom is all just a bunch of hype. You are so wise! On prom night, I would have much rather hung out in my pjs and watched a chick flick with Sonnie! You go girl!!

Way to go Laura! Stand your ground! Don't worry, nobody thinks you are foolish for not going to prom, and I whether you go or not, you won't have any regrets! You're awesome!!
Hey, have you seen 27 dresses yet?? You have to see it, I'll see it again with you if you want to!

This is Ryan, Laura you rock! Prom Smom Blom Clom Dom, the only people that would regret not going to prom are those people whose high school was the peak of their entire lives. Most people's lives just get better after high school and prom is just a shooting start that fades as fast as it comes. (I'm so poetic).

Honestly prom was pretty lame. You won't regret this decision. But it would be a great opportunity for you to "shake what you don't got".

ps...Douglas and I are making a blog go to http://melanddouglas.blogspot.com
