BYUI here I come(hopefully)

I just finished my BYU Idaho application, and here is my essay. The prompt was to write about something that was unique to me, and I decided to write about knitting! It is a little sappy...but I hope you enjoy. Click on the little blue question mark and you can see a picture of the Rexburg temple, and the Angel Moroni being put on top.

I am a well-seasoned knitter. I began knitting in hopes of more nimble fingers for playing the piano and viola. During a breezy summer afternoon, I asked my Grandma, who can craft anything, to teach me to knit. Stitch by stitch, she helped me create a beautiful mosaic scarf of fine yarn, intermingled with splashes of pink and red.
My storage bin of “major accomplishments” sits high in my closet; there I placed my precious pink and red scarf. I continued knitting other items and forgot about the scarf between July and December. One frigid day, my eyes could not ignore the familiar pink and red colors. I got the scarf out of the bin, put on my warm winter coat and tied the scarf around my neck. I looked in the mirror, and it reflected someone proud of what she made and ready to show it off. I could not wear the scarf without thinking about how much fun I had making it with my Grandma.
The funny stories she told and the leisurely afternoon we spent together is a rare experience for most grandkids. I cherish my grandmother for teaching me to knit. With my love for knitting, I started a knitting club at school called “Admitting to Knitting”. People joined, eager to learn the new skill. Each of us has a different reason for why we knit. Mine, is my Grandma. Every time I pick up a pair of needles I always think of her. She taught me such a pleasant handicraft and I continue her tradition by teaching others.
Knitting has given me confidence and helped me make new friends at knitting club. But most of all, it has given me precious memories with my Grandma and hope of carrying on her traditions into the future.
